Shiksa Studio Blog bio picture

Welcome!

 Our company was created in 2004. Everything started even earlier when I was a child and I aways had a big imagination from watching lots of movies. Cinema left in my mind big footprint with big wish to work with videos in the future. When my family came to the U.S. my dream came true. With help of professional people, I continue to grow into my own unique cinematic style. When Diana and I got married in 07-07-07, Diana had a big desire to help me and now she is my second videographer and she helps me to do all the paper work. Our philosophy is "To create breathtaking cinematic imagery and satisfy our clients." You can benefit from our service we offer in any place in the US. If you are falling in the category to be our client, you will enjoy all time from meeting with us till never ending memories of your wedding day captured in high definition video. In this Blog we will post for you all recent videos we have made. Enjoy watching us!

Jimmy + Sanary | Recap :: San Jose, CA

Our next wedding we got to enjoy was on February 11, 2012 in San Jose. When we get a chance to film multi-traditional weddings, it brings refreshment and excitement for us. We get to explore different traditions from other cultures and in this case it was Vietnamese. Even though couple’s parents and grand parents came to US, Jimmy and Sanary grew up around American culture and they already might not understand what all traditions meant. Interesting thing we discovered in the best men’s toast when he reviled true character of Jimmy that he might look tough but he loves Disneyland. This is exactly what I mean when we get mixed culture weddings and not just different culture wedding. It’s interesting how two or more cultures combine into one wedding day and how it flows. Because of it our day becomes very long. :) I think we were covering 13.5 hours shoot and we had lots of fun with Jimmy and Sanary and their bridal party. We’ve could find out who they really are rather then assume who they are from their ethnical background! Thank you so much Jimmy and Sanary for this amazing opportunity to film your wedding! We would like to invite you to watch our next recap!

Nick + Mara | Recap :: Hayward/Pleasanton CA

Another interesting story we got to witness and capture about Nick and Mara. They met each other at work and started dating without anyone knowing it. Even though they were spotted together outside of work when Mara would drop Nick off at the airport or when Mara was running marathon and Nick would wait for her at the finish, they still tried to keep their relationship in secret. :) Mara’s sister was mentioning that she figure her out in the beginning of the recap. We were glad to meet this sweet couple! They heard about us from our couple from last year’s wedding. It’s a honor for us when we get referred by couples from previous weddings! Nick’s and Mara’s wedding was on January 21 and it was really nice to see sun that day! They chose beautiful church and amazing venue for reception. It was really nice and fun wedding to be at and we wish all the best for them! Enjoy your wedding recap!

Aris + Alexis | SDE + BTS :: Burlingame, CA

Hello our friends!
This was one fun wedding from beginning to end. The day was pretty laid back, and this made it much easier to film and edit the Same Day Edit. Both Aris and Alexis are very funny and outgoing couple, and so was their entire bridal party. It was jokes and laughs nonstop throughout the whole day, and when we were there filming like ninjas, the bridal party forgot that we were even there and felt totally comfortable with us filming them. Gifts exchange were super cute and it was a big part when we could see and capture how fun Aris and Alexis are! Despite enormous rain in the morning they were lucky to see a sunshine around noon and they really felt that as a big blessing to complete their joy.
So before the ceremony we mic’d the groom and the bride had no idea that Aris was mic’d which had made this SDE so different, because both of them were giggling and whispering to each other thorough out the whole ceremony. Even we were clueless about awesome audio that we captured until when I was cutting footage at the last part of the ceremony. I was laughing and I knew it must go into SDE :)

When it was show time, we were so excited to see the couples reactions. Every time we do an SDE it brings the most amazing surprise and feelings to all the guests. For us there is nothing better when we see bride and groom smiling and laughing while watching!

So, we wish Aris and Alexis all the best and we are really happy for them! Thank you so much for letting us to be a part of your day!

Misha + Olga | Recap :: SF

When we met Misha and Olga and got their ‘Save the date’ card where it said “Game Over”!

It meant for us that everything before was a just a game and Misha and Olga finally found true love between each other and there is no more games :) Misha found Olga’s profile on Match.com and he tried really hard to start relationship with her. He made it and we know now that they got together and they planed an absolutely amazing wedding! It had mix of Jewish/Russian/American wedding traditions and 3 languages got into the film too. “Challah” ceremony with the bread means who ever gets a bigger piece will manage more things in the family. It is a joke partially lol! The “Hora” or traditional dance, where the groom and bride are lifted on chairs or dancing in circles were so beautiful. I had to be right in there to make you feel the energy. Let me tell you, Misha and Olga and all their relatives, friends and guests know how to party. That is why we had a big part of the recap dedicated to it. Ceremony room and reception were just jaw dropping gorgeous but like Misha said it’s all of those things that made the celebration so incredible but the most important are people and energy that they brought to share with Misha and Olga. This energy was a key of this film and you must have felt it by the end of the film. :) I could talk more and more but I’m not as good writer as a good film maker so let our recap tell a story and have fun watching our next celebration recap!

Nick + Whitney | Recap :: Tustin, CA

Hello friends!
We were very excited to travel south to LA area to film our next couple! We met Nick and Whitney back in December 2010 when they were at Tarik’s and Erika’s wedding because Nick is the younger brother of Erika. I think Nick and Whitney were already engaged at that time and after super cute recap about Tarik and Erika, Nick and Whitney fell in love with our cinematography. They wanted us to come and film their wedding day! We get really excited to explore and learn about each couple and we get amazing chance to tell you the story through our film!!! It was also interesting to see Tarik being pastor this time and Erika being a bridesmaid :) Even though first half of the day was very gloomy and rainy when time came to get married, rain stopped. Ceremony was outside and I felt that we were going to film under the rain and there was no back up plan. Lucky them :) Nick and Whitney met each other back in High School but their ways spitted until they met each other again in college in Santa Barbara! Love came along the way :) and now here we have a beautiful short story to share! Enjoy!

Zachery + Heather | Recap :: Walnut Grove, CA

I was waiting for so long until I get my hands on this wedding to make a recap! Right at the wedding when Zachery and Heather said vows to each other in sign language, I knew that this is going to be something special and totally unique! I have never seen anyone doing vows like this. Zachery and Heather know sign language even though they are not deaf-mute but they had some friends at the wedding that were.
Their wedding happened last October at really awesome Grand Island Mansion in Walnut Grove with really beautiful decorations! Especially at the decoration table where old wedding dress was hanging and it was real wedding dress of Heather’s mother and also Heather’s first toys next to it.
At that day I worked alone with no assistant and when I was filming Heather’s preparation I have got comments from people like “ohh hi, I love your videos and we watch it all the time”. The crazy thing is that we never know who watches us and our films and it would be so awesome if people would leave more comments here so we would see a bigger picture of our dear visitors and friends! :) Also, I really loved the theme of necklace leafs and real leafs in the ceremony aisle with super cute pumpkins!
I can’t express more description about Zachery and Heather then just to invite to you watch this amazing film about them!

Mihir + Yashada | Recap :: San Mateo, CA

We are very excited to share our first Indian wedding. It’s no secret that Indian weddings are the most colorful ones out there. Our wish came true last October and we had an opportunity to film a 3 day wedding. Every tradition that was performed there was so beautiful and it was amazing to capture it. Mihir and Yashada traveled to India to purchase their wedding attire and they were so beautiful. Like Yashada said that she is very detail oriented, it was big thing for us to capture every little thing! So the whole event had such rich visuals that it was so unreal to see all that through camera. We want to thank Mihir and Yashada for letting us be the ones to film and to tell a story about their wedding!

Bob + Ginger | Recap :: Burlingame, CA

Our next couple found us at the last moment before the wedding! They were lucky that their wedding was on Sunday and we still were available one week before the Sep 4th, 2011. :) What we love the most about them that they were not afraid to be themselves in front of the camera. Bob was throwing jokes at the ceremony during vows and Ginger never felt awkward having us everywhere in the morning :) In the good way!!! This is the good example how are couples feel comfortable while we do our part. Their wedding started early in the morning and ended early in afternoon. I think this was the shortest wedding we had in the while. Despite that locations were amazing and beautiful. Of course the most important is that we still managed to capture their uniqueness and awesomeness of their characters and their story! We are excited to share this next recap with you!

Making Tracks | Going back to Chukotka

This year we decided to make our trip more than just taking photos. With a team of creative people such as Alex and Diana Shik from Shiksa Stuido, Tatjana and Phil who are amazing story tellers and art directors we plan to travel through the tundra and visit multiple tribes, one after another. As crazy as it sounds, we will spend a month traveling over 2000 miles, much of it on snowmobiles in -40 /- 50F weather. We will be filming our trip while photographing and sharing the Love of Christ to the people in the tribes. We hope to bring back a gift from the people of Chukotka to the people of the West – a gift of an incredible story of their lives.
All this won’t be possible without your help. This trip is not sponsored by any company, or organization. It’s a pure desire of a group of people to go and use our talents to serve people who live literally at the end of the earth.
This trip will cost us $20,500. The money will go to cover travel expenses, clothing, food, gas for snowmobiles, purchase of new sleds, gifts for people in tundra, arctic tent and sleeping bags, electric generator, etc.
We are looking for companies and sponsors to work with.

Michael + Christina | Recap :: Dublin, CA

Hello our friends! This time we would like you to meet Michael and Christina!
Our next recap we called “Love At the First Body Roll”. Every time we meet our couples, it always fascinates us how interesting their stories are. Stories of how they met until the day of the wedding. Many times their friends can tell those cute and funny moments when they make the toasts! Michael’s and Christina’s love story was very well told. I hope it feels like 4 minutes was enough to meet them even though they never spoke in the recap :) I mean of course they did at the wedding but in this recap talking part took their friends. You will see why! Enjoy our next Recap!
